21 May 2011 - festive evening devoted to the 66th anniversary of Victory Day in Shfaram
organized by the graduates of former Soviet and Russian Universities (the Arab sector)

In Israel, continuing the celebration of Victory Day, on May 21 a festive evening devoted to 66th anniversary of Victory Day was held in Shfaram. About 150 Israelis - graduates of Soviet and Russian higher educational institutions (the Arab sector), as well as their families - Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians and other people - immigrants from the USSR - CIS had gathered in one of the celebration halls. The hall was decorated with flags of the Soviet Union, the victorious countries of World War II, and Russia. For the first time a copy of the legendary Victory Banner, recently delivered from Russia was unfurled. The guests have shown attention and keen interest in a small exhibition of photos from Soviet war correspondents, while the loud-speakers sounded Russian songs of the Great Patriotic War, creating a festive mood. The moderators lead the evening in good Russian,and congratulated all members of the Alumni Association, as well as holiday guests with Victory Day holiday greetings. The Head of the FA Rossotrudnichestvo Representation in Israel,Alexander Kryukov, greeted the assembled guests and commended the initiative of activists of the Association for the annual preparation and holding of this festive evening. Kryukov told the history of the hoisting of the Victory Banner over the defeated Reichstag, prompting keen interest and applause. The Russian representative also reported on the annual selection process by the Russian Embassy and the FA Rossotrudnichestvo Representation in Israel of selecting state grants candidates from among young Israelis to study in Russia, whose numbers have increased this year. Dr. Khalil Andraus, chairman of the Alumni Association, reminded the audience of the world-historical significance of the victory of the Soviet Union and the Allies over German fascism in World War II and constructive position of the USSR in respect to the creation of Israel. Participants were also warmly welcomed by the chairman of the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality MK M. Barake and Member of the Knesset A. Agbar - both graduates of Soviet universities. During the evening an impromptu concert was held, at which Russian songs and poems about the war and the Great Victory were sounded. В Израиле продолжаются торжества по случаю Дня Победы

21 мая в Шфараме состоялся праздничный вечер, посвящённый 66-й годовщине Дня Победы. В одном из залов торжеств собралось около 150 израильтян – выпускников советских и российских вузов (арабский сектор), а также членов их семей – россиян, украинцев, белорусов и людей других национальностей – выходцев из СССР – СНГ.

Зал был украшен флагами Советского Союза, страны-победительницы во Второй мировой войне, и России. Впервые для обозрения была выставлена копия легендарного Знамени Победы, недавно доставленная из России. Внимание и живой интерес израильтян также вызвала небольшая экспозиция фотографий советских фронтовых корреспондентов. Из динамиков звучали русские песни времён Великой Отечественной войны, создававшие праздничное приподнятое настроение.

Ведущие вечера на хорошем русском языке поздравили всех членов Ассоциации выпускников, а также гостей праздника с  Днём Победы.

Затем с приветствием выступил руководитель представительства Россотрудничества в Израиле Александр Крюков, высоко оценивший ежегодную инициативу активистов Ассоциации по подготовке и проведению праздничного вечера. А. Крюков рассказал об истории создания и водружения Знамени Победы над поверженным рейхстагом, что вызвало живейший интерес и аплодисменты присутствующих. Российский представитель также сообщил о начавшейся ежегодной работе по отбору кандидатов из числа молодых израильтян на учёбу в России по государственным стипендиям Посольства России и представительства Россотрудничества, число которых в нынешнем году значительно увеличено.

Д-р Халиль Андраус, председатель Ассоциации выпускников, напомнил собравшимся о всемирно-историческом значении победы Советского Союза и стран антигитлеровской коалиции над германским фашизмом во Второй мировой войне и конструктивной созидательной позиции СССР в вопросе создания Государства Израиль.

Собравшихся также тепло приветствовали председатель Демократического фронта за мир и равноправие депутат Кнессета М. Бараке и депутат Кнессета А. Агбария – выпускники советских вузов.

В ходе вечера состоялся импровизированный концерт, на котором звучали российские стихи и песни о войне и Великой Победе.

Мероприятие было проведено при активной поддержке представительства Россотрудничества в Израиле.
