A rally in memory of the heroism of Leningrad in Ashdod
67th anniversary of the complete lifting of the Nazi siege of Leningrad

January 27,the day of the 67th anniversary of the complete lifting of the Nazi siege of Leningrad, the staff of the FA Rossotrudnichestvo Representation in Israel and the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv in Israel, visited the only monument to victims of the 900-day siege of the city on the Neva. The monument was erected in 2004 in Ashdod. In his welcoming speech, the head of Mission, Alexander Kryukov said that the blockade of Leningrad is inscribed in history as one of the most tragic events and at the same time, engraved on the heroic pages of the Great Patriotic War. Kryukov, expressed his deep gratitude to the blockaders of Leningrad, a model of national courage, unparalleled strength and fortitude, and wished them health and strength. Vice Mayor of Ashdod, Boris Giterman thanked the FA Rossotrudnichestvo Representation and the Russian Cultural Center's sided support for the blockaders and the active involvement of the RCC in the social and cultural life of the large Russian community in the city. The Chairman of the Union of blockaders of Leningrad in Israel, Sonia Barulya (Jerusalem) noted the special significance of the ceremony in the year of the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the siege of Leningrad, which will be celebrated jointly by the Union and the RCC in September. The meeting was also attended by the Cultural Attache of the Embassy of Russia, Anton Chermensky, chairman of the Regional Committee of the Union of disabled soldiers and partisans from the war with the Nazis, Paperny Efraim, former Leningrad resident, survivors of the siege, and war veterans who defended the great city. At the end of the ceremony Kaddish was read in memory of the victims. The Delegation of the RCC laid a wreath at the monument to the victims of the 900-day siege of Leningrad. The ceremony was covered by correspondents of the Russian-language TV channel " Israel Plus ". |

образцом народного мужества,
невиданной
стойкости и

пожелал им
здоровья и сил. Вице-мэр
Ашдода Борис
Гитерман
поблагодарил
представительство
Россотрудничества
и Российский
культурный
центр за разностороннюю
поддержку блокадников
и активное участие
РКЦ в
общественной
и культурной
жизни
многочисленной
русскоязычной
общины
города. Председатель
Союза
ленинградских
блокадников
в Израиле Соня
Баруля
(Иерусалим) отметила
особую
значимость
церемонии в
год 70-летия начала
блокады
Ленинграда,
которое
будет отмечаться
Союзом совместно
с РКЦ в
сентябре. В
митинге также
приняли
участие атташе
по культуре
Посольства
России
Антон
Черменский,
председатель
окружного
комитета
Союза воинов
и партизан –
инвалидов
войны с
нацистами Эфраим
Паперный,
бывшие
ленинградцы,
выжившие в
блокаду, и
ветераны
войны,
защищавшие
великий
город. В
завершение
церемонии
был прочитан Кадиш
в память о погибших.
Делегация
РКЦ
возложила к памятнику
жертвам
900-дневной
блокады
Ленинграда
венок. Церемония
освещалась
корреспондентами
русскоязычного
телеканала
